FYI: Amit, see https://github.com/diennea/herddb/wiki/Benchmark-results:-YCSB-History for the new bench that Hamado has uploaded…the bench are still CPU bounded on the workloadc (100% read) but the other bench are now way more realistic

Maybe this could help you

@All: from the bench we see a regression in read performance in v11 or v12…it’s not a big hit but it’s there

Ale

Hi Ale,

Thanks for the information. I was looking for the max writes per second that we have achieved in production. The benchmark are a big help as well.

Hello,

Where can I find the read/write specs for herddb? Do I need to run the
benchmark tests to get them or these are published somewhere already?

Thanks,
Amit

Hi Amit,
what do you mean with ?read/write specs for herddb?? Are you searching for how the datafiles are written/read from disk? The WALs?

Since you are talking about benchmark are you looking for performance numbers? In that case see this section of the wiki: https://github.com/diennea/herddb/wiki/Benchmark-results:-YCSB-History
We have yet to publish bench for v0.11 and v0.12, maybe Hamado can chime in and update us on when they will be published (he was working on running the bench suite on a different and more modern hardware).

NB: those number are taken from a quite old machine and are really useful only to be compared with other test on the same machine (like we do from release to release) . If you want to compare synthetic benchmark you should run them using an hardware closer to your production hardware and a workload closer to your production application. Having said that, the best way to bench an application is really to port it and instrumentate the application itself (but this is costly, so you can start with a workload that you think is ?logically closer? to your application).

Ale
